Believe it or not, selling books doesn’t mean making a profit. Given how many hours of work it takes to write, forget self-publish, I already felt like an idiot before I got the attention of trolls — they were simply the last drop. So while I might be able to get over one of the crappy things related to self-publishing, the sum of it was too much. I do not write to be famous or to do favors to people ad infinitum while not getting much else than abuse in return. I earn more on Medium and it takes far less time, so thank you, but no thank you. Not to mention that Medium makes it very easy for me to block trolls.
