No, in my opinion, it’s not. I’d rather pay to support serious media houses, such The New York Times, Nautilus, or Guardian if I were into high-quality journalism and writing. Despite hiring a former Time’s editor, Medium member-only stories have mostly attracted people who are now flocking to Medium just because they think they can make a fast and easy buck by publishing locked stories. That’s not how good stories come to be and is definitely not something I’m willing to keep paying for and supporting.
