No, that’s not just how it is. That’s how it is because Goodreads, as influential as it is, doesn’t care to clean up its act and stop this. Amazon stopped it, Facebook only stopped it after murders have been streamed online and fake news wreaked havoc, Twitter stopped it, but Goodreads has not and for as long as things stay this way, I’m out. I’m not cannon fodder for mean, twisted, and sick individuals who care about nothing and nobody and get a kick out of destroying other people’s work. I owe you as a reader of books nothing. I’m not here to provide books for you if you, Goodreads, and the society not only give little or nothing back but even let people troll me in return. Self-publishing and publishing is expensive and I see no reason to invest further in it if that’s how things stand. So I’m out, until things change, I’m out, along with countless other authors. You, of course, are free to read my work on Medium, that’s the place that pays more than books and makes it very easy to get rid of trolls.
