Why I don’t recommend Squarespace

The thing is, not every browser is supported on Squarespace

I built my website using Squarespace thinking how this, one of the most recommended platforms, will be a reliable solution and I wouldn’t have to worry about any technical or safety issues. Sadly, it turned out I was dead wrong. Since nobody, at least not as far as I could find, published that there are any such issues with the above mentioned website builder, I’m now letting you all know about this. For me, it’s a major deal-breaker.

The thing is, not every browser is supported on Squarespace. This means that I, as one example, am unable to access my own website using the in-built browser on my tablet. Also, while I can at least access my website using my smartphone, the images are distorted to the point of unbearable if I use the in-built browser. Something similar, btw, happens when I try to access either Squarespace, Wix, or Weebly using these same in-built browsers, so all these popular website builders suffer from this same issue.

I can, however, access WordPress, Tumblr, and Strikingly with no issues whatsoever. Meaning, one of this options will be the next stop for me.

I went back and fort about this with Squarespace for days, and today, after I sent them screenshots to end the charade, they finally admitted that not all browsers are supported on their platform. Guess what, you won’t find any mention of that anywhere on their website and certainly not when you are signing up and paying for their yearly plan (no refund after 30 days)!

So, to let this sink in, not everyone will be able access any website that was created on Squarespace (or Weebly or Wix) because, I don’t know, I guess they simply decided that some users don’t matter to them. Well, every visitor matters to me and should matter to anyone who is serious about their website!

I know this is very hard to believe, so I posted the response I received from Squarespace today as the headline image, just so that you can see it with your own eyes.
